We had a group of 50 – 60, people from care homes around the south east of Northumberland coming to Bedlington Allotment for a lovely day out. There was also a group of children from the Footsteps on the Moon nursery. A great time was had by all. There was a picnic in glorious summer sun and some live music. This is now an annual event and we are looking forward to next year which might be even better.

We have a lovely new fence thanks to the generosity of Councilor John Beynon who secured grant funding from Northumberland County Council. It needs a good coat of paint to preserve it for as long as possible. We would like as many local people to help as possible. If you could give a couple of hours of your time it would be very much appreciated. Please bring a paintbrush or roller if you can. All are welcome. Call us on 01670 519575 to confirm your availability.
Refreshments, snacks and a fantastic atmosphere will be provided.
We now have a sturdy fence around the site, giving us a good size area to develop into a Garden which will be usable space for all the community. We have moved the Polytunnel ready to fix down and recover. We are starting to build raised beds and planters, to offer the opportunity for local people gain experience in grow flowers and vegetables. As part of the plan we intend to have an area for activities / social gatherings and a quiet space for peaceful contemplation.
We would like to thank Councillor John Beynon for his generous contribution for the fence and all the volunteers who have help us get this far.
We would like to hear from anyone who is able to give us some of their time to help use create the garden. We could also do with wood, planters and plants that anybody can spare.
We have a limited amount of food available, donated by Asda, which we can distribute to local people who need this support. We will still making referrals to Wansbeck Valley Food Bank. Please ring 01670 519 575 during office hours only, 9 am to 2.30 pm.
