We now have a sturdy fence around the site, giving us a good size area to develop into a Garden which will be usable space for all the community. We have moved the Polytunnel ready to fix down and recover. We are starting to build raised beds and planters, to offer the opportunity for local people gain experience in grow flowers and vegetables. As part of the plan we intend to have an area for activities / social gatherings and a quiet space for peaceful contemplation.

We would like to thank Councillor John Beynon for his generous contribution for the fence and all the volunteers who have help us get this far.

We would like to hear from anyone who is able to give us some of their time to help use create the garden. We could also do with wood, planters and plants that anybody can spare.

We are about to start creating a Community Garden. We want to make growing vegetables and flowers. accessible to all our residents. The plan is to build raise beds so people with disabilities or older people who are unable to stand for long can still take part. We need large planters and wood planks. We could also do with some spare flower plants. Any Offers please contact Stobhill Link, Monday to Friday 9 am – 2.30 pm on 01670 519575. We can collect items.

We are intending to start a Community Garden Project scheduled for Spring and Summer 2019.

Picture 1

We would like to convert this rundown area in the pictures into a beautiful green oasis.

The aim of the project is to create a community garden which is accessible for all our residents, so they have an opportunity to grow their own fresh fruit and vegetables. Linked to this would be some healthy eating sessions.

We have obtained some land behind the Stobhill Link building. There were formally some derelict garages (picture 2) which attracted vandalism and dumping of rubbish (picture 1). The garages have since been demolished (picture 3) giving us a large area to create an environmentally friendly Urban Community Garden. The plan is to build several raised beds so that gardening activities can be easily enjoyed by wheelchair users and older people who are unable to stand for too long. We hope to create a peaceful green outside space to organise events for local people and activities for older residents who are socially isolated.

As part of our employability project we could provide valuable experience and training in horticulture to people seeking employment. There will be significant benefits to the health and wellbeing of the local people. The garden can just be a place of peace and tranquillity to be simply enjoyed by local people.

The project is crucial to continuing the work we are doing at Stobhill Link and to reaching more people who need our support.

Can you help us do this? If there is anyone out there with building, carpentry, and gardening experience we woud love to hear from you. Please contact us by telephoning 01670519575 or via our contact form. Click here
