Bedlington Allotment

Front Gate

Located within the Dr Pitt Allotments in Bedlington, this large, accessible allotment garden has been specially designed for use by older and disabled people as well as children of school age.
The allotment includes raised beds, block paving and a large polytunnel which provides shelter as well as an indoor work area for use on rainy days.
All of this makes access easier for a wheelchair user to navigate their way around the garden.

The allotment is intended to be a friendly, supportive and safe environment where individuals can continue with their gardening hobby. It offers a social setting where individuals with similar interests can chat and “work together”. Vegetables are grown by the contributors which are then shared.

There can be health benefits, being out in the fresh air, getting some gentle exercise and in particular fresh vegetables for the table.

Bedlington Allotment

The allotment can be educational. You can learn the skills to grow your own vegetables and then you can continue growing vegetables on your own if you wish. On-going advise is available during opening times.

Bedlington Allotment opening times are 9.30 to 12, Monday and Wednesday.

We are always looking for volunteers. You can help out on the allotment which can be rewarding in itself but volunteering can also improve your chances of finding work by enhancing your CV and getting a reference for potential employers.
